About This Quiz

Three times Super Bowl champion (1977, 1981, and 1984), runner-up in the final (2002), and 13 times division champion since its joining in the NFL in 1970. All of this places the Californian team as one of the most important in history. And as one of the top teams, their fans sure deserve a special quiz about the Oakland Raiders!

Originally created in Oakland in the 1960s, the team moved twice, the first in 1982, when the team went to Los Angeles, and the second, in 1995, when the team returned to Oakland. Relocating a team in the NFL is very difficult, both financially and bureaucratically. In the 1983 draft, considered a revolutionary year in the quarterback position, the team revealed John Elway, Dan Marino, and Jim Kelly.

The current design of the Raiders’ black and silver is pretty much the same since 1963. It consists of silver helmets, silver pants, and black or white shirts. Black shirts have names and numbers in silver letters, while white shirts have names and numbers in black letters with silver numbers. Originally, the white shirts had black letters for names and numbers with a thick black outline, but they were changed to black with a silver outline for the 1964 season.

Another unique aspect in Oakland Raiders is the crowd, it is not as fanatical as that of Philadelphia, nor as loud as those of Seattle and Kansas City, but it encompasses all kinds of fans. The crowd’s behavior is surreal for the American culture, and this trivia will focus on this. The Raiders are the closest to the hooligans in the USA. Another characteristic of the fans is the habit of dressing up to go to the games as if it were a carnival block. The costumes include werewolves, skulls, “Lucha libre” fighters, and even Darth Vader. Anything is acceptable to root for the team in an original and humorous way.

To be a Raider is to be opposite, to be different, to be revolutionary. For example, Raider’s Nation members Carlos Santana, Slayer, Metallica, Larry King, Jamie Foxx, Magic Johnson, Tiger Woods, and Jessica Alba. Where else would a golfer and a Hollywood actress meet with “metalheads” dressed in black and silver? At the Oakland Coliseum, the stadium that exists since 1966. So, do you still think you are ready for this Raiders Quiz? You know now that their fans are the craziest ones. Prove you are one of them!
