About This Quiz

Basketball fans have been talking about the NBA for years. The all-star games, the playoffs, even the draft picks have been hotly debated on forums, in school classrooms, and at home on the couch.

The NBA is a highly successful organization that includes 30 teams and over 450 players. For a fan, it can be hard to keep track of all the players.

But the hall of fame has honored and celebrated basketball’s greatest moments and stars since 1959, and you can check the sport’s history and greatest moments there. As it marks its 61st anniversary, we look back at how the shrine to the basketball game continues to live up to its reputation as the world’s finest sports museum.

On February 17, 1968, the first Basketball Hall of Fame opened its doors during an unprecedented period for the sport. Earlier that month, on January 20, 1968, Elvin Hayes led the University of Houston to a thrilling 71-69 win over the UCLA Bruins in a game that would become known as the Game of the Century in college basketball. This was the first regular-season game to be broadcast live on national television, watched by over 50,000 fans at Houston Astrodome and millions more at home.

For the first two decades of the Hall of Fame’s existence on the campus of Springfield College, the institution faced challenges. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the birthplace of basketball to experience its stories and memorabilia. The original hall space had become small for the public it had.

Today, nearly three hundred inductees and more than 40,000 square feet of basketball history are displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Located near Connecticut’s glorious riverfront, the museum is the perfect place to honor the game Dr. Naismith first invented over a century ago.

In addition to marking the skyline of Springfield, the iconic structure evokes the enthusiasm of basketball fans around the world. Skills challenges, live clinics, and shooting competitions are among the highlights of the exhibition. A rich basketball history is sure to appeal to even the most passionate sports fans!

It’s a question we all ask ourselves: how well do you know the NBA? This quiz will tell you exactly how you’re doing. It would be a lot easier if I could just tell you the exact answers, but that would take away from the fun of not knowing. So, instead, you’ll have to look back at old basketball games and try to figure out these answers. Good luck!
