1. Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson got her first major role as Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy, but she starred in her first movie at aged ten alongside her real-life mother, Melanie Griffith. The mother-daughter duo worked together in the 1999 film “Crazy in Alabama”, and the two are said to maintain a close relationship out of the public eye.
2. Julia Roberts and Emma Roberts
Julia Roberts has been vocal with her support for her niece, Emma Roberts, over the years. The two often appear together in images posted on social media, but Julia Roberts has come forwards to admit that she will never guest star on “American Horror Story”, the show that launched her niece’s career. She claims that she is far too scared to ever be a part of the drama series, calling herself “the most fitful scaredy-cat”.
3. Quincy Jones and Rashida Jones
Very few people know that actress and director Rashida Jones is actually the daughter of legendary musician, Quincy. The father and daughter have managed to excel in their respective career paths, but Rashida paid her father the ultimate compliment when she created her 2018 documentary “Quincy”. Released on Netflix, it went on to win the 2019 Grammy for Best Music Film.
4. Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Rapper Ice Cube (real name O’Shea Jackson) has helped to pave the way for his son’s success. O’Shea Jackson Jr. rose to fame when he played the part of his father in “Straight Outta Compton”, the autobiographical film about Ice Cube and his fellow members of the rap group N.W.A. Jackson Jr. said that despite the uncanny similarities between him and his father, he still had to audition and work just as hard as all of the other actors in order to score the role.
5. Lily Allen and Alfie Allen
Lily Allen rose to fame in the early 2000s with her pop music, but her younger brother later went on to carve his own path in the spotlight, playing Theon Greyjoy in the popular “Game of Thrones” series. Although many Got fans were surprised to discover that the pair were siblings, fans of Lily’s music had already known – in 2006 she released a song titled “Alfie”, all about him.
6. Gavin Rossdale and Daisy Lowe
Gavin Rossdale is the lead singer for the band Bush, and was married to singer Gwen Stefani from 2002 until 2016. Prior to this marriage, he fathered a daughter from another relationship – British model Daisy Lowe. Rossdale did not know he was Daisy’s father, and he was chosen to be her godfather. Lowe had grown up believing that her father was a man named Bronner Handwerger, and it was only in 2004 that a paternity test revealed Rossdale was in fact her biological father.
7. Jenny McCarthy and Melissa McCarthy
Jenny McCarthy and Melissa McCarthy are first cousins, and it would appear that the two are very close. Jenny McCarthy used her fame to help her cousin land her first role in the 90s, and the pair have both managed to stay in the spotlight. Jenny has also been outspoken about criticism against Melissa, showing that there is no jealousy or bad blood between the pair.
8. Jason Momoa and Zoe Kravitz
Zoe Kravitz is the only child of superstar parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. When the pair split, Bonet went on to marry Hawaiian actor Jason Momoa. It appears as though everyone is one big happy family, with Momoa and Kravitz regularly photographed together at events, and in the past, Zoe has posted photos on social media with her stepfather and younger step-siblings.
9. Sofia Coppola and Nicholas Cage
It is a well-known fact that Sofia Coppola, professional actress, screenwriter, producer and director, is the daughter of equally-famed director Francis Ford Coppola. But what is less known is the fact that she is also cousins with Nicholas Cage. Cage has a long and successful acting career, although he has never worked with his famous cousin, or her father. The two are also cousins with Jason Schwartzman, who has acted in a number of films including “Moonrise Kingdom”.
10. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci
The pair starred in “The Devil Wears Prada” together as co-workers for a fashion magazine, but in real life, Emily Blunt is Stanley Tucci’s sister-in-law. The pair remained friends after working together, and Tucci was invited to Blunts wedding to actor John Krasinki in 2010. It was here that Tucci met Blunt’s sister, and the two have been in a happy relationship ever since.
11. Chuck Schumer and Amy Schumer
Chuck Schumer is a Democratic Senator for New York, with a long and illustrious political career. He is first cousins with actress and comedian Amy Schumer, who rose to international fame with her 2015 film “Trainwreck”, that she is also credited as a writer on. Despite the fact that the cousins are both successful in incredibly different fields, they teamed together for a press conference in 2015 that was centered around gun reform and tighter firearms control.
12. Rob Schneider and Elle King
Schneider became famous for starring in a number of comedy films, including “Deuce Bigalow – European Gigolo” and “Hot Chick”. The comedian has fathered three children, including singer-songwriter Elle King. The father and daughter have not always had the perfect relationship, and King grew up with her mother and stepfather. The “Ex’s and OH’s” hitmaker has said that despite their past, they have managed to bury their problems and that the pair finally share the relationship she’s “always wanted”.
13. Kate Middleton and Elle Fanning
If the rumors are true, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is distantly related to Elle Fanning (and her sister, actress Dakota Fanning). Website Ancestry.com has alleged that the pair are 21st cousins and that they share common ancestor King Edward I. Elle Fanning made her acting debut alongside her sister in “I Am Sam” (as a younger version of Dakota), and more recently she was Aurora, starring in “Maleficent”, and the sequel “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”. Although it is not known if Princess Kate is aware of the family relationship, Fanning has called the connection “crazy”.
